Awarded the Rhodes Scholarship, 2025

Every year, ten Rhodes Scholarships are given to graduates from the Southern African constituency—which includes South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and eSwatini—who want to attend Oxford University full-time for master’s or doctoral study. This scholarship at Oxford is place-based, completely supported, and lasts for two years.

Undergraduate students, postgraduate students enrolled at other UK or foreign universities, and students who have not completed the official application and selection process for the Rhodes Scholarships in Southern Africa are not eligible for financial aid from the Rhodes Trust.

The deadline to apply for the 2025 Rhodes Scholarships is August 1, 2024, with online applications opening on June 1, 2024.

Please review the Information for Candidates paper, paying special attention to the eligibility requirements. The age requirements are rigorously enforced for all overseas constituents. For up-to-date information, you are encouraged to visit the Rhodes Trust website and go through the documents, videos, and other materials that are available to help candidates with their applications.  The FAQ page is another helpful resource for applicants.

Candidates must first finish the eligibility check on the website in order to begin the application process. This will direct the candidate to the Southern Africa Rhodes Scholarship application website if they match the eligibility requirements. Online applications are submitted using the Embark platform.

I would like to bring to your attention that Oxford University offers more than 300 postgraduate courses. To find out which courses fit with your undergraduate field of study or which courses pique your interest, you will need to examine the A-Z Guide (enter the disciplines you are interested in in the search bar). You might want to look into opportunities outside of your undergraduate field, so please review the Conditions of Tenure.
